New date for 10K road race

DEWSBURY Road Runners are hoping the streets of Dewsbury and Batley will reverberate to the sound of pounding feet on Sunday March 4 – the potential new date for the town’s 10K road race.

The race was scheduled for last Sunday but the Road Runners were forced to postpone the event.

The popular race had to called off after the wintry weather arrived last Saturday afternoon.

It made the course (along Bradford Road to Wilton Park, Batley and back) and surrounding areas treacherous to the 800 or so runners and spectators who were expected to arrive from all over the country.

Dewsbury Road Runners now hope that they will be able to get the race underway on Sunday March 4 and are advising the athletes who had signed up for last Sunday’s race to hang on to their numbers.

See www.dewsburyroad runners.co.uk for further details about the new date.

n The Liversedge Half Marathon is due to take place this Sunday but organisers, Roberttown Road Runners, are keeping a close eye on the weather.
