Morrison believes there is still room for improvement

RAMS coach Glenn Morrison believes there is still room for his side to improve, despite them inflicting a 23-10 defeat on fancied Halifax in their second pre-season game on Sunday.

Dewsbury produced a vastly improved display following their Boxing Day defeat at Batley but Morrison says his side will continue to work hard ahead of this week’s clash against Bradford Bulls.

Morrison said: “We worked hard during the week and put things in place.

“We stuck to our game plan and we were pretty clinical and although there were a few errors in the second half, holding them to just two tries says a lot.

“Spav (Scott Spaven) was really good and had a great game, Ryan Wright showed guile and Tebby (Matthew Tebb) gave us a spark when he came on. Lillicrop came off the bench and did well.

“Since I came here, we have made improvements off the field and we are now aiming to do things right on the field.

“We are happy with the win but there are still things to work on.

“Its only a friendly and we are not getting ahead of ourselves but the win gives us confidence.

“Against Batley we only had a 51 per cent completion rate but today it was 90 per cent and it shows when you do things right what a difference it makes to the team.

“We had players coming off who were still fresh and still had plenty in the tank.

“Our fans had a first chance to see some of the new players and I hope they’ve gone away happy.

“The support has been great from everyone on board and we are continuing to make improvements.”
