Thornhill’s late surge not enough to reel in Greetland

THORNHILL under-18s made a good start at home to Greetland but eventually lost out 38-24 to the visitors.

Greensmith opened the try account with Ratcliffe converting. But Greetland hit back to lead 10-6.

Bendikas raced 60 metres to touchdown under the posts with Parry level to restore the lead.

By half-time, however, Greetland had nosed four points ahead, and another try after the break put match-winning daylight between the sides.

Parry and Liam Hickling - with a terrific run - scored late tries, converted by Hammond but too late to alter the outcome.

Greetland wrapped things up with a try on the whistle.

Wyke under-8s Black and Whites were unlucky not to come away with at least a share of the spoils from their home encounter with Halifax outfit Elland.

Try scorers, in this entertaining game, were MOM Cameron Lewis (2), Jake Rayner (2), Callum Drake, Dylan Firth and Aidan Law.
