Dewsbury Rams have re-signed forward Daniel Igbinedion in a bid to bolster their squad, who face a real fight for survival after suffering a ninth straight Betfred Championship defeat at Barrow last Sunday.

Igbinedion rejoined the Rams, after spells at Featherstone and Sheffield, late last week but was not included in the squad who travelled to Barrow and went down 58-32.

Igbinedion, who spent a spell on loan at the Rams from Castleford Tigers in 2017, could be in line to face Halifax on Sunday as Dewsbury look to end their long losing spell.

Rams coach Neil Kelly explained: “Daniel only signed on Thursday and he wasn’t able to train on Friday, which was the main reason he missed out.

“It would have been unfair to pick him (for Barrow) but as the game progressed I perhaps regretted that decision.

“He will be available for us against Halifax, as will Jamel Goodall, who we felt probably wasn’t match fit for this game.

“We may also have Paul Sykes back next week, but I’m not looking to bring him back too quickly, because that may put him out for the longer term.”

Dewsbury travel to Halifax lying ninth in the Championship, level on six points with Sheffield and just two ahead of second-bottom Rochdale.
