The one plus to come out of Dewsbury’s defeat against Kingstone Press Championship leaders Hull KR last week was the return of full-back Josh Guzdek.
Guzdek was last season’s Rams player of the season but had not featured since limping out of the Boxing Day derby at Batley Bulldogs with a knee injury.
Rams coach Glenn Morrison was delighted with Guzdek’s performance on his return.
He said: “He did a great job for us and it shows the quality that we have been missing.
“I’ve said before that full-back is a specialist position and he doesn’t come up with any errors and is in the right spot.
“The forward pass to Alex Brown can probably be put down as an error, but he was outstanding.
“I’ve seen him drop one ball and that was probably the easiest kick he’s had to receive, against Sheffield last year, but other than that sides can test him all day long.
“If it wasn’t for his injury I think we could be in a better position than we are. I think he will be pushing to get back up to the top level.”
