It was a fine display by the youthful Maroons as they produced some fine flowing rugby and good handling to score at regular intervals.

With the calming influence of Andrew Robinson and brother Peter, Moor racked up a 32-0 interval lead as Cameron Bruce, Phil Shotton, Bartley O’Brian, Cameron Adleigh, Tom Kay and George Crisdale all crossing for tries.

Jacob Flathers landed four conversions in a one-sided first half.

Gateshead refused to lie down after the break and hit back with tries from Lewis Burbridge and Danny Mole, with Dominic Mewes adding a conversion.

Moor again upped the tempo with James Eatherley, Danny Wardman and Toby Richardson driving them forward.

Bradley Foster produced some well executed passes to create gaps in the Gateshead defence and this led to further tries by Jordan Foster, the returning Anthony Boardman and Flathers, who also added another conversion to complete a satisfactory victory.

Moor’s junior gala proved a huge success on Sunday, with around 1,000 spectators attending.

There were boys competitions for Under-7s through to Under-13s, with girls tournaments at Under-13 and Under-15 age groups.

It was a well organised event, with the Moor junior gala committee receiving praise for their voluntary efforts in making the day a success.
