Moor seek National joy at Vic – Rose tackle Celtic in Kane semi

DEWSBURY Moor will again try to play their National Cup second round tie against Birstall Victoria at White Lee tomorrow (2pm).

The game was postponed last weekend because of a frozen pitch. The winners will have the reward of a home third round tie against Yorkshire League Division One Upton who had an excellent win at National Conference Division One Normanton last weekend.

It would be something of a revenge mission for Moor who were beaten 28-12 at Upton in the Yorkshire Cup in October.

Moor will meet Batley Boys in the Jim Brown Cup semi-final after the Batley side won their appeal against expulsion from the competition.

The date has yet to be arranged.

White Rose have also won an appeal against removal from the Heavy Woollen League’s John Kane Cup because they had permission from the Yorkshire League to have a blank date on the day the game was originally due to be played and Yorkshire were unaware of the local fixtures.

This means White Rose will meet Dewsbury Celtic in the John Kane Cup semi-final at Bywell Fields tomorrow with the winners meeting Shaw Cross in the final with the date and venue to be arranged.

Thornhill Trojans hope their stop-start season will resume tomorrow with a Pennine League Division Three game against Oulton A at Overthorpe Park.

Last week’s fixture against Littleborough was called off at short notice when the visitors were unable to raise a team.

Shaw Cross Sharks have no game in the National Conference and their A team have no Yorkshire League fixture, meaning a blank weekend at the club.
