MOOR travelled to King Cross with only 12 players for this Pennine League Championship game.

Paul Delaney and Deryck Fox took over the coaching duties following the resignation of Dean Lawford and Moor pushed their opponents all the way before two tries in the final 10 minutes sealed victory for the home side.

Matt Brown scored an early try for King Cross and the same player was only denied a second by a fine tackle from Ryan Johnson.

Adie Moore made a crunching tackle as Dewsbury won possession before Peter Robinson broke to send Scott Dyson over near the posts. Jack Ryding converted.

Good handling by Dyson, Ben Hardacre, Bradley Fraser and Phil Simpson sent Ryan Smith away but the defence stood firm.

Ryding intercepted a dangerous-looking attack.Moor had a let off when King Cross fumbled the ball while touching down.

Pressure finally told when scrum-half Lee Brook forced his way over and he added the goal to put them 10-6 up.

Dyson put in a crossfield kick and Ryan Smith gathered to score a well-worked try and Moore added the conversion.

King Cross used their substitutes well in the second half and scored through Aaron Brown, Andrew Boocock and Adam Barret, two of which were converted by Brook to lead 26-12.

Simpson, Lee Ashton and Dominic Scanlon took Moor away from their line before a good pass by Bartley O’Brian sent Ryan Johnson away and he beat several defenders on a 60-metre run before touching down close enough to the posts for Ryding to convert to reduce the arrears to eight points with 12 minutes remaining.

Moor battled bravely but gaps began to appear and King Cross scored two late tries.

Moor earned praise from the onlooking Pennine League officials.
