Mixed emotions for coach Jowitt

DEWSBURY Rams coach Warren Jowitt had mixed emotions following Sunday’s pulsating 32-24 victory over Swinton Lions at Tetley’s Stadium.

Jowitt hailed his side’s first half display but was critical of the way the almost let a 26-0 lead slip.

Swinton fought back to within two points before a sensational long range try from man-of-the-match George Flanagan sealed victory.

Speaking after the match, Jowitt said: “In the first half we were clinical. We stuck to the game plan and we had success.

“I was forced into a couple of changes due to injuries to key players and we then went backwards.

“We went away from the game plan and you can’t get away with some of the mistakes we made in the professional game.

“But I have got George Flanagan in the locker and he knows how to win a match.

“George beat himself up after the Leigh game but he certainly turned it around today (Sunday).

“I’m really pleased with the win but not pleased with the way we made mistakes and lost concentration.”

Dewsbury have closed the gap on sixth placed Keighley to five points and the sides meet this Sunday at Cougar Park in what will be a crucial game in the Rams season,
