Marsh turn up heat in cup win

AN impressive first-half display helped Marsh secure a 5-3 victory over Fairbank United Reserves in the Spen Valley League’s Sonder Heating Cup last Saturday.

Marsh led 5-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Mark Wigler (two), Danny Stocks (two) and Steven Swift.

But Marsh appeared to relax after the break and that allowed Fairbank to hit back with goals from Sohaib Hussain, Naveed Khan and a Hassan Iqbal penalty but the Cleckheaton side held on to progress.

Paul Beaumont and Dominic Simpson were on target for first division high fliers Ravensthorpe Bulls but they lost 4-2 to Premier Division leaders BD3 United.

Goals from Hazi and M Adam were not enough to prevent Savile Youth bowing out of the cup as they lost 4-2 to Division One leaders ALC, as Karl Hall bagged a hat-trick and Aaron Irving also netted.

Lloyd Webster (two) and Darren Ellis were on target for Vision but they are also out after Ali Razzak (hat-trick) and Abaz Khan saw Fairbank United to a 4-3 win.

Girlington won their all first division Bradford derby against TVR United 5-3.

Goals from Luke Barraclough and Jake Hirst were not enough to prevent bottom side Heckmondwike Sports suffering an eighth defeat of the season as they lost 7-2 at home to Howden Clough in Spen Valley League Division One.

Ryan Foster’s strike proved a mere consolation as Cleckheaton Sporting lost 5-1 at BD3 United Reserves, who had Sukdeep Singh, Sultan Khan, Talat Mahmood and Syeed Hussain among their scorers.

Bash Raje and Ilyas Lunat helped Norfolk seal a 2-1 win over Inter Batley (Arshad Navsarka) after the sides were locked 1-1 at half-time.

n Josh Britton was on target for Dewsbury Rangers Reserves but they lost 3-1 at home to Horbury Athletic in Wakefield League Division Three.
