Mackereth impresses as Hopton stay top

Ashley Mackereth was dismissed one run short of a century, having hit 20 fours and seven sixes in a splendid innings.

Chris Scott (55) supported, while Jason Smith(4-52), Josh Bennett keer (3-69) and Zafar Khan (3-64) shared the wickets between them.

Chris Metcalfe hit 46 in Northowram’s reply but they were bowled out for 141 as Macketreth capped an impressive display with 3-51, while Bradley Drake claimed 3-29.

Liversedge made light work of Oulton, dismissing the visitors for 121.

William Harrison (40no) top scored but Zach Woodclaimed 3-12, while Graeme Winn, Simon Kay and Will Atkin picked up two wickets apiece.

Captain Winn then struck 28 not out to steady the Liversedge ship and guide them to victory after they lost six wickets.

Azaad are third, eight points behind Liversedge, following a hard fought one-wicket win over Wakefield St Michaels, while Caribbean were dismissed for just 68 against East Ardsley.

Ashley Pearson (6-34) and Scott Mullins (3-26) did the damage as it took Ardsley just 18.5 overs to bowl their opponents out before completing an eight-wicket win.

Crossbank Methodists picked up only their second win in Division One, overcoming Mirfield by 10 wickets.

It was Crossbank’s best performance since joining the CYL as nd Nigel James (3-12) combined to dismiss Mirfield for 153, despite the efforts of Steve Kirkby (43) and Islam Hussain (26).

Captain Richard Hosley hit 16 fours and two sixes on his way to 95 not out and shared an unbroken 156-run opening wicket stand with Christian Duncan (38no) to steer Crossbank to victory.

East Leeds won a thrilling top of the table clash against Great Preston, knocking off 227-8 with just two balls and two wickets to spare as they closed the gap on the leaders to just three points.
