The result came a week after they succumbed to two late goals against Armthorpe Welfare, and once more they were beaten in the closing minutes.

Anthony Doran’s finish with just over 10 minutes remaining was enough to down the visitors, who were unable to find an end product despite putting in a decent display.

Three former Liversedge players were in the opposition starting 11, including Bordman brothers Rob and David as well as Matthew Thompson.

And it was Rob Bordman who had the first good chance of the game, fizzing a left footed cross which flew across the Liversedge goal, just inches past the far post.

Most of the remainder of the first half was a tight affair, but Liversedge ended it brightly.

Joel Farrer’s chip over the top was met by captain Tom Jackson, fresh from his brace last week, but he was unable to continue his scoring run as his header went straight at the Nostell goalkeeper.

The best piece of football of the first half came when Sedge top scorer Andrew Wood dummied Wayne Ball brilliantly on the right wing and fired a cross to strike partner Kieran Corley, who saw his header saved.

Liversedge continued to dominate. Barry Rothera’s long throw was flicked across goal by Farrer and Mitchell Pearson went close meeting it at the back post.

Despite this, Sedge were unable to take the lead and were unfortunate to end the first half with the scores goalless.

Manager Alan Colquhoun brought on Eli Hey for the second half and he nearly made a quick impact.

A Rob Bordman free-kick found his brother David unmarked at the back post, but the ball rebounded off him into the arms of Sedge goalkeeper Sam Dobbs.

Dobbs quickly sent his side on the counter attack and Hey struck a post with a low shot.

Liversedge again hit the woodwork as they pushed for a vital three points. Pearson played the ball inside to Franck Zalo who found the onrushing Brook Newton just inside the penalty area but his left foot effort cannoned off the crossbar.

Eventually Sedge were made to pay for their missed opportunities as Nostell substitute Jamie Moxon won the ball from Tom Jackson by the left corner flag.

While Liversedge appealed for a foul on their captain, Moxon hit a low cross which found its way across the six yard area to Doran who tapped home the game’s only goal.

The loss makes March a vital month for Liversedge, who have six home games to try and gain some vital points to lift themselves up the table.
