Liversedge plan tribute on Hillsborough anniversary
Tomorrow’s FA Cup semi-final between Wigan and Arsenal, will kick off at 5.07pm, with Hull against Sheffield United starting at 4.07 pm on Sunday.
Liversedge and Thackley players will observe a minute’s silence at 3.06pm — the time at which that fateful semi-final was abandoned 25 years ago.
Liversedge have invited several local junior and school teams to take part in a series of five-a-side matches at half-time during tomorrow’s derby, which should help swell the attendance.
Liversedge will be aiming to end a three-match losing run and earn the derby bragging rights from the Premier Division clash against Thackley.
Dave Thompson’s men have not scored in their last three outings, which has seen them suffer defeats to Retford United, Heanor Town and title favourites Brighouse Town.
Sedge suffered a 2-1 defeat at Thackley in October despite Billy Grogan giving them a ninth minute lead so will be looking to avenge that set back at Clayborn.
With four matches remaining Sedge can not be relegated and could climb as high as 17th place.
Victory would provide the perfect tonic as they bid to end what has been a difficult campaign on a high.
