Liversedge move level at top after victory

Liversedge moved joint top of the CYL Championship following a 28-run victory over Wakefield St Michael’s.

It is tight at the top with just seven points separating the top five clubs, with Oulton and Liversedge leading the way.

Suknit Raman stroked 15 boundaries on his way to a top score of 72 as Liversedge were bowled out for 152, with Ahmed Hussain (4-36) and Alex Leyshon (4-28) doing the damage.

Graeme Winn (4-39) and Suleman Mohammed (3-13) combined to dismiss St Michael’s for 124 in reply.

Hopton Mills were reduced to 99-8 against Azaad before Gary Senior (41) and Philip Scott (29) led their revival and they eventually reached 167 all out, with Waheed Ahmed claiming 4-42.

Azaad timed their run chase to perfection, winning with just one ball to spare as Hanif Mahboob (84) and Imran Mahboob (46) led the way.

David Flint claimed 6-18 as Oulton dismissed East Ardsley for 127 before Imran Mayat struck 77 not out to guide the visitors to victory and a share of top spot.

Mirfield suffered an eight-wicket defeat to Gildersome in Division One.

Khalil Liaqat claimed 5-40 as Mirfield were bowled out for 128, with Steve Kirkby (29) top scoring before Gildersome eased to victory in 20.2 overs with Gary Sagar hitting 56.

Chris Priestley hit a magnificent 135 as Adwalton posted 346-6 and earned a 142-run win over Rodley.

Great Preston chased down the East Leeds total of 224-9 to win by three wickets and move to within two points of the leaders.
