The first half proved a tight affair and the deadlock wasn’t broken until injury time.

Liversedge had created the best chance up until then when Adam Jarrett broke through and was brought down at the edge of the area, with Joe Swallow’s free-kick producing an excellent save from the goalkeeper.

With Sedge on attack, they lost possession and Morpeth hoisted the ball upfield. Sean Taylor broke through and slotted home to put his side ahead on the stroke of half-time.

Mick Chilton doubled Morpeth’s lead two minutes after the re-start and although Liversedge’s Sam Bibb went close with a header which crashed against the crossbar, the visitors then fell apart spectacularly.

Chilton added his second after 75 minutes and Scott Swanston put the game beyond reach with a fourth two minutes later.

Jordan Fry made it 5-0 before Taylor completed the rout with his second.
