Liversedge bidding to shock leaders Albion

Tadcaster have appealed to their local community to rally round and help ensure Saturday’s game goes ahead at the i2i Stadium.

Severe flooding left Albion’s Ings Lane ground under several feet of water in December and they have not played a home game since beating Worksop Town in the FA Vase on December 2.

However, it is now over 100 days since Liversedge played at home after last week’s clash against Cleethorpes Town became the latest to fall victim to the saturated Clayborn pitch.

Liversedge’s plight, on and off the field, has already reached desperation point and they go into Saturday’s clash six points adrift at the foot of the table.

Sedge face a daunting task against a side who are 42 points better off but manager Jonathan Rimmington will hope his players will be unfazed as they look to spring a surprise.

Rimmington said: “It is a nightmare scenario for all at the club. We play a game then miss out when the lads are eager to play.

“The top of the football pyramid need to look down at all the hard work we do down at the foot of the football league and may be help as we have had no income since of October 31 and it is killing our club.

“We are losing players and every week we have to change our line up and that really does not help the team. The club needs local help also and we would welcome any thoughts and ideas.”

There was some respite, when Liversedge Under-19s defeated Silsden 1-0 in the Pat Rice Trophy last Thursday, thanks to Vaughan Redford’s 16th minute goal, setting up a trip to Pocklington.
