Littletown seal fine win

LITTLETOWN boosted their promotion hopes in West Riding County Amateur League Division One last Saturday thanks to an impressive 7-0 victory over Ventus Yeadon Celtic.

Victory leaves Littletown third in the table, but with four games in hand on the top two sides after Lee McKeown (three), Joe Jagger (two), Aiden Schofield and Neil Griffiths netted in their impressive victory.

Heckmondwike Town are third-bottom after suffering a 3-1 defeat to second placed Salts, despite Lee Wood scoring a consolation goal.

Town are level on points with second-bottom Overthorpe but have five games in hand as they aim to pull clear of the relegation zone.

Overthorpe went down 7-1 to Halifax Irish, with Jack Allerton scoring their consolation goal.

Hunsworth took another step towards relegation from the Premier Division on Friday when they suffered a 4-1 defeat at Campion, despite Lee Brook netting for the visitors, while Lower Hopton suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Kirkburton.

Lower Hopton Reserves will meet Albion Sports Reserves in the Division Three Cup final.

Alan Anderson’s second half goal was enough to see Hopton overcome Ventus Yeadon Reserves, while Albion Sports Reserves defeated Littletown Reserves in their semi-final.

Richard Burke hit Littletown’s goal but it wasn’t enough to see them bowing out.
