Littletown Reserves clinch league title

LITTLETOWN Reserves were crowned champions of West Riding County Amateur League Division Three after Saturday’s emphatic 6-0 home victory over Tingley Athletic Reserves.

It is a terrific achievement by the team who have not lost in the league this season, recording 13 wins from 17 games so far.

A dominant first-half display saw the hosts 4-0 up at the break over their third-placed visitors and they went on to clinch a deserved title triumph.

Ben McCardle and Kris Beckwith both scored twice with Joseph Armour and Lyle Laycock also on target as Littletown Reserves stretched their unassailable lead over second-placed Salts Reserves to 17 points.

Jack Ellis-Pownall scored in the second half as Lower Hopton Reserves lost 2-1 at home to Bronte Wanderers Reserves, while a Steve Oakes brace saw Hunsworth Reserves earn a 2-2 draw at Hall Green United Reserves.

n Wyke Wanderers moved up to ninth place in West Yorkshire League Division One after their seventh win of the campaign, 2-1 at home to Robin Hood Athletic.

In Division Two, Hartshead drew 0-0 at Garforth Rangers to be two places and two points ahead of Howden Clough who drew 1-1 at home to Glasshoughton Welfare.

In Alliance Division Two, second-bottom Howden Clough Reserves lost 2-1 at Aberford Albion Reserves and are level on points with fourth-bottom Hartshead Reserves who suffered a 3-2 home defeat by Stanley United reserves.

n Shears Inn stay third-bottom of the Leeds Red Triangle League Kath Lawson Memorial Division after a 5-2 defeat by third-placed Belle Isle WMC. Tim Wilkinson and Scott Sweeney hit goals for the home side.
