Littletown hit Drighlington for six in cup

Littletown eased into the Heavy Woollen District FA’s Wheatley Cup third round with a resounding 6-0 victory over Drighlington Juniors.

The West Riding County Amateur League side had too much firepower for their opponents as a brace from Lee McKeown and further goals by Matt Bugg, Joe Jagger, Rob Knight and Blake Maude saw them progress.

Jagger continued his excellent scoring form 24 hours later when he notched from a free-kick to help West Bowling record a 3-1 victory over Liverpool side Allerton in the FA Sunday Cup second round at South Liverpool FC.

Bowling now travel to Hardwick Social in the third round on December 13.

Wakefield League side FC Gawthorpe join Littletown in the third round following a 3-1 win over Wheelwright Old Boys, while Woodkirk Valley also progressed thanks to a 2-0 win over Morley Town Thirds.

Overthorpe remain firmly in the West Riding County Amateur League Division One promotion hunt following a 6-3 victory over Steeton Reserves.

Overthorpe stay fourth but are just five points behind leaders Newsome and four off second placed Honley with a game in hand on both.

Jack Allerton (two), Lewis Ward, Steven Jordan, Reece Patterson and Sam Sweeney were Overthorpe’s goalscorers, with Casey Dowthwaite, Andrew Briggs and Kyle Fox replying for Steeton.

Littletown Reserves slipped to a 6-3 defeat at Division Two promotion chasers TVR United.

Kieron Senior, Adam Forbes and Adam Jordan struck for Littletown but it wasn’t enough as second placed TVR sealed victory with goals from Abid Khan (two), Shazaib Hussain (two), Asif Iqbal and Faisal Shabbir.

n Howden Clough Reserves fought out a 3-3 draw away to Leeds Modernians Reserves in West Yorkshire League Alliance Division Two.

Jake Weatherhead and Majid Ahmed struck first half goals for Clough before James Keen’s 80th minute strike was enough to give Clough a share of the spoils.

The sides remain locked on 13 points apiece in sixth and seventh places respectively.

n Dewsbury Rangers Reserves moved up to third place in Yorkshire Amateur League Division Five thanks to a 4-2 win away to North Leeds Reserves.

Rangers are level on 19 points with second placed East Ardsley Wanderers and six adrift of leaers Huddersfield Amateurs.
