Littletown aiming high

LITTLETOWN boosted their promotion hopes in West Riding County Amateur League Division One thanks to an 8-0 win at Wakefield City.

The Beck Laners are fourth, a point behind Ventus Yeadon Celtic and six adrift of second-placed Salts, with four games in hand on both.

Joe Jagger scored a hat-trick, there was a brace apiece by Richard Newman and Aiden Schofield and James Sykes also netted.

Heckmondwike Town boosted their survival hopes as they stunned leaders AFC Emley with a 3-1 win.

Second-bottom Heckmondwike are a point behind a trio of sides, Town have also played fewer games than anyone else in the division.

After a goalless first half Town sealed the win with a brace from Joel Pollard and one from Irfan Khan.

Emley are top with Littletown within 10 points of the leaders and they also have four games in hand.

Overthorpe SC are one of the sides just above Heckmondwike after they slipped to a 7-3 defeat at Tyersal. Overthorpe have played five games more than Town and could drop into the bottom two. Gareth Marshall, Liam Bradford and Michael Haley scored on Saturday.

Hunsworth remain rooted to the foot of the Premier Division, nine points adrift of third-bottom Wibsey, after a 3-0 defeat by Kirkburton.

Lower Hopton slipped to a 4-1 defeat against Campion, John Braime’s scored a second half consolation goal.

Braime was on target again, with Paul Ashwell, in Hopton’s 2-1 win at Knaresborough Town on Tuesday night.

Hunsworth Reserves are in the Division Three promotion race following a 2-0 victory over Bronte Wanderers Reserves, in which Philip Bell and Tom Smith scored.

Littletown Reserves enjoyed a 3-2 victory over Ventus Yeadon Celtic Reserves. Craig White, Dominic Prendergast and Nathan Willoughby were the Littletown scorers.
