Gomersal inflicted a first defeat of the season on Bradford League Division Two leaders Morley last Saturday.
Impressive bowling from Josh Fell (4-27) helped reduced Morley to 91-9 before a 48-run last wicket stand by Dave Nebard (27) and Matthew Dowse (20no) guided them to 139 all out.
Captain Matt Baxter (36) was Morley’s top scorer but Gomersal were guided to their modest victory target by Graham Hilton (45) and Jack Seddon (32no) despite the efforts of Dowse (4-58).
Scholes capitalised on Morley’s slip up to move within 10 points of the leaders thanks to a comfortable seven-wicket win at lowly Keighley.
Spinner Danny Cross, Division Two’s top wicket taker, picked up 5-39 as Keighley were restricted to 144-9.
Richard Wear (44) and Luke Chapman (33) were the main contributors to the modest total with Scholes overseas player Atif Zaidi collecting 3-24.
Zaidi followed up with 58 as he and opener Toby Thorpe (40no) guided their side to victory.
Hartshead Moor suffered a 27-run defeat to Yeadon, who posted 228-6 .
Ollie Stephenson top scored with 70 and was well supported by the experienced James Goldthorp (50no) and Damon Gormley (35), while Danny Squire (4-46) was the pick of the Hartshead bowlers.
Hartshead overseas player Fahid ul-Haq (71) and Arun Balasubramanian (43no) threatened to chase down the total but they closed on 201-8 in reply as Oliver Halliday (3-32) and Altaf Mohammad (3-41) were the pick of the Yeadon bowlers.
