Football and rugby matches scheduled to be held on Kirkless Council managed pitches this weekend have been cancelled.
The pitches are saturated following heavy rain over the weekend and with further rain forecast for tonight (Tuesday), they are expected to remain in an unplayable condition.
Affected leagues have been informed.
Safety inspections will continue to take place, on ground conditions and there will be extra effort made, to prepare the pitches for future fixtures.
The football pitches at Sands Lane in Dewsbury were flooded on Boxing Day after the River Calder burst its banks for the second time in December.
Pitches at Battyeford, off Huddersfield Road in Mirfield, were also flooded.
