Kent gets back in saddle

THERE was a surprisingly low entry at Firth Park for the opening round on the Trans-Pennine age related cycle speedway event last Sunday.

Paul Idziorek scored a maximum 16 points in the Under-18s event, with William Naylor scoring eight in the Under-12s, the same score as Andy Morris in the final event of the afternoon.

Darren Kent scored 13 points the previous day as he qualified for the final round of a tournament held in memory of Dave Blinston.

Despite taking a fall, Kent scored 10 points in the final, which was won by Chris Timms of Birmingham.

Heckmondwike will be hoping Kent has recovered in time to face Bury at Firth Park on Sunday, start 2pm.
