KBW enjoy successful evening on home show

Boxers travelled from as far afield as Scarborough to take part in the event at Dewsbury Town Hall, with Great Britain Olympic hopeful Jack Bateson handing out trophies, along with Labour parliamentary candidate Paula Sheriff, while eight home boxers represented the KBW club.

KBW’s Michael Brooke extended his winning run to three straight bouts as he overcame Lewie Greenhoff, of Barnsley Star ABC, in a 41kg schoolboy contest.

Michael got off to a fast start, displaying some fine boxing to gain a unanimous decision on the judges cards.

Home boxer Moqeet Rehman met AJ Wright, of the White Rose ABC, in another schoolboy bout at 40kg.

Rehman overwhelmed his opponent, producing some neat combinations to secure a unanimous decision victory and extended his perfect record to 4-0.

Callum Grace (KBW) met Jack Bance (Bulkington Sport ABC) in a junior bout at 48kg and the pair fought a very close contest with Grace winning by split decision.

Josh Wisher produced an impressive debut against Warren Mills (Bracebridge ABC) as he showed aggression to force the referee to stop the contest in the third round to secure a TKO win.

KBW’s Kasim Hussain returned from a six month lay off to overcome Jack Thompson (Bracebridge ABC) by a majority decision.

Dhameen Rasheed also returned from a long lay off to box Christian Radcliffe of Moss Side ABC.

The last time Rasheed boxed was on the first KBW show in December 2012.

Dhameen came into the fight with a roar of support and he showed no signs of ring rust and displayed skilful boxing in the first round.

Rasheed showed more aggression in the second round, forcing the referee to stop the contest and award him a TKO victory and he also claimed the bout of the night trophy.

KBW’s Harvey Muir stepped into the ring for the first time in four years when he met Bobby Gilder of Tameside Elite ABC.

The pair squared off in a gruelling three round contest with blood being drawn on both sides before the KBW man came out stronger in the third to secure a majority decision win.

Veteran KBW Boxer Kevin Pratt again brought plenty of action and excitement to the ring and continued his winning streak, bossing his opponent to secure a unanimous decision win that capped a successful evening for the KBW boxers, who picked up eight wins from eight bouts.

The KBW club has gone from strength to strength since affiliating to the ABA two years ago and have over 100 boxers and more than 25 in active competition.
