Kahut produces best display of career to earn victory

It was the third time Kahut had beaten Daley but while the other two victories were by narrow margins, last week’s success was much more emphatic as he won all six two minute rounds.

Kahut used his height and reach advantage well as he kept Daley at distance and used his jab to good effect.

Kahut, who lives in Batley but works as a solicitor in Daisy Hill, Dewsbury, ended the first round with a smart three-punch combination which caught the eye of referee Mark Lyons.

Kahut was the busier man in the second round and a fierce upper cut rocked Daley as he took command.

Daley was rocked with another upper at the start of the third and Kahut threatened to force a first stoppage of his career.

Daley survived and ended the third on top but it was not enough to prevent Kahut winning another round as he took an unassailable lead.

Kahut kept Daley at arms length in the fourth but both men began to tire in the fifth and the bout became a bit scrappy, although Kahut did enough to win both.

Daley knew he needed a knock-out punch to earn victory and charged at Kahut at the start of the sixth but appeared to be felled by a stiff jab, although the referee judged he had slipped.

Kahut landed a couple of fierce body shots in the final round to ensure he was awarded the contest 60-54 points on the scorecard of referee Lyons.
