Hussain and Sayed hit tons in Parish cup win

Parish racked up an impressive 347-5 as Nazar Hussain (110) and S Sayed (108) both starred with centuries.

Captain Tim Orrell supported with 48 before first division Northowram were dismissed for just 64 and Parish eased into the last eight.

Hussain capped a superb all-round game by claiming four wickets for five runs, while Daniel Padgett supported with 3-24.

Division One promotion chasers Liversedge produced a terrific effort to push Premiership high fliers Wakefield Thornes close before slipping to a 37-run defeat.

David Toft (37) and Matthew Varley (33) led the Thornes innings but they were dismissed for 182 as Connor Rowlands (4-32) and Matthew Gibson (4-35) impressed for the Roberttown Lane side.

Mark Hydes (41) and Gibson (38) threatened an upset but Liversedge were bowled out for 145 as Faisal Irfan claimed 3-10.

Holders Methley are safely through to the last eight following a 101-run victory over Batley.

Eddie Walmsley led the way scoring a splendid 134, while support came from Fahid Rehman (68) as Methley reached 263-6, with Roheil Hussain claiming 3-55.

Fawad Maqsood (66) and Ayaz Seedat (57) led Batley’s reply but they were bowled out for 162 as Mustafa Bashir claimed 4-20.

Birstall suffered an eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Townville in another all-Premiership clash.

Craig Wood hit 31 but Birstall were restricted to 141-7 as Peter Hepworth returned figures of 3-10.

Birstall claimed two early Townville wickets before Nick Bresnan (71no) and Jack Hughes (44no) steered their side to victory with an impressive unbroken third-wicket partnership.

Ossett were dismissed for just 75 as Warren Ekstraal (3-19) and Aqash Aurangzeb (3-17) bowled impressive spells for Hunslet Nelson, who completed an eight wicket win as Dan McTernan finished unbeaten on 36no.

Great Preston threatened to pull off a shock win against Wrenthorpe, who eventually edged home by four-wickets.

Stuart Ruddick led the way with an impressive 70 not out, while Australian overseas player Matthew King (61) and Lee Russell (38) supported as Great Preston reached a challenging total of 212-6, with Chris Leaf (3-28) the best Wrenthorpe bowler.

Premiership big guns Wrenthorpe had a few scares as they lost six wickets against the Central Yorkshire League newcomers before edging home thanks to the efforts of Darryl Hendricks (55), Jordan Sleightholme 38, James Smith 36).
