Huddersfield Town fans walk to Bury

Almost 200 Huddersfield Town fans battled through the wind and rain last Saturday, walking over 27 miles from Canalside Sports Complex to Bury’s Gigg Lane as part of the club’s ‘Walk for Pounds’ event in aid of the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign.

It was an early start for the walkers, registering at 3.30am and setting off on the long journey through the town centre, up to Outlane, over the drizzly Pennine moors, through Heywood and into Bury.

Participants included former Town manager Peter Jackson, former player and current BBC Radio Leeds pundit Kieran O’Regan, a host of Town employees, partners and fans.

The first walkers arrived at Gigg Lane before noon, with the last of the troopers turning up by 2.30pm - a fantastic effort by all.

The club was inundated with good-luck messages for the walkers via Twitter (@htafcdotcom), including from the likes of Coronation Street actor and Town fan Chris Fountain, Sky Sports news presenter Vicky Gomersall and Yorkshire Cricket Club captain Andrew Gale.
