Heaton defeated in cup semi

HANGING Heaton saw their hopes of reaching the Pennine League Supplementary Cup final shattered by an 18-14 defeat at Queensbury A last Saturday.

Errors and silly penalties cost Heaton dear as their league and cup double hopes evaporated.

They only trailed 4-0 at the break but it took until the latter stages of the semi-final for them to finally get their act together.

Late charges came from Fallas, Williams, Aked, Dave Berry and new signing Tom Holderness with MoM Fallas crashing over for two tries.

Williams also touched down and Dave Berry added the goal but time was always against Heaton after their very poor start.

Pennine Division Six leaders Heaton will now seek to bounce back and maintain their 100 per cent league record as they visit third-placed Sherburn Bears this Saturday (2.30pm).

Sherburn stand third, three points behind Heaton, while second-placed Undercliffe Wildboars, who visit mid-table Wetherby Bulldogs, are just a point adrift.

Undercliffe and Sherburn have played two games more than Heaton who know a win could go a long way to clinching the title.
