Hartshead Seconds climb table after win

Hartshead Moor beat the weather and overcame Bowling Old Lane by 67 runs in the only JCT600 Bradford League second team match to reach a conclusion last Saturday.

Chris Swift hammered an unbeaten 68 and Jack Baldwin added 31 as Hartshead posted 173-5 in their 25 overs.

Old Lane lost early wickets when they replied and even the determined efforts of Rashid Ramzan (61no) could not save them from defeat as Callum Wilkins took 3-21 and Jeff Wynd (3-25).

Victory saw Hartshead climb to sixth place.

The only other second division game to see any play was at Busy Lane where Windhill made 63-4 in 13 overs before their fixture with Bankfoot was abandoned.

Jawad Waheed had figures of 3-26 when play was halted.

Play was possible in only two Division One games.

Relegation-threatened Lightcliffe picked up nine welcome points form their abandoned game with Hanging Heaton.

It enabled them to pull level on points with Bradford & Bingley whose game with New Farnley was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Alex Tait hit 88 and James Horne 37 as Lightcliffe made 201-8 before declaring after 38 overs. The evergreen Pete Byrne took 4-44 for Heaton.

Several rain interruptions during the Lightcliffe innings, meant Heaton only had 17 overs to achieve a positive result in reply and they reached 73-4, with Imran Dawood (35) top scoring.

Keighley reached 140-9 in 48 overs against Pudsey Congs, who had made 3-0 in two overs when rain brought the game to a premature end.
