Hartshead feel force of Townville promotion charge

Townville picked up a seventh straight win as Nadim Hussain (6-22) and Jack Hebden (3-11) combined to dismiss Hartshead for 74 before opener Jonathan Booth made an unbeaten 34 as they eased to victory.

Methley suffered a five wicket defeat to Altofts as they slipped from second to fourth.

Gomersal are third after they suffered a 97-run defeat against Wrenthorpe.

Gomersal had Wrens in deep trouble at 79-7 after excellent bowling from James Russell (4-23) and Joel Pollard (3-55).

Howver, Wrenthorpe tail ender Jonathan Rudge turned the game around as he struck six sixes and nine fours on his way to 100 and shared an eighth wicket stand of 95 with James Glynn (48) as Wrenthorpe closed on 222-8.

Glynn followed up by taking 4-26 and was backed up by Chris Leaf (3-16) as Gomersal were all out for 125.

Spen Victoria were undone by two former players as they suffered a four-wicket defeat to Bowling Old Lane.

Ex Spen man Adil Islam took 3-40 as he and Haroon Tariq (3-35) helped dismiss the visitors for 134, with Alex Leadbeater (32) top scoring.

Bilal Ejaz made an unbeaten 40 to seal Old Lane’s win.

Opener Chris Scott made 72 not out as Hopton Mills beat Carlton by two wickets.

Carlton’s 148 included another good knock from Farrukh Alam (79) while Phil Scott (3-16) and Umar Abbas (3-6) bowled well for Hopton.

Crossbank Methodists picked up their third win in the Bradford League Conference, defeating bottom side Gildersome by 46 runs last Saturday.

James Coulborn hit an unbeaten 76 as Crossbank posted 223-9, with support from Christian Duncan (42) and Frederik Ras (31).

Asif Sheraz made 52 for Gildersome but his side were dismissed for 177 as James Lord picked up 3-30 and James Abbott (3-47).

Crossbank are level on 63 points with local rivals Heckmondwike and Carlinghow, who were edged out in a tight finish against East Leeds.

Khurram Shehzad (42) and Usman Qureshi (41) led the way for Heckmondwike but they were bowled out for 146 as James Watling (4-17) impressed for East Leeds.

Paul Cooper (3-30) and Adnaan Rawat (3-41) threatened to win it for Heckmondwike but Dan Lawrence (41) and John Gomersall (32) made useful contributions before East Leeds edged home by one wicket.

Buttershaw St Paul’s lead the table after racking up a sixth straight win.

They posted 354-3 against Adwalton as opener Kevin McDermott hit an unbeaten 129 which contained 22 fours.

Adwalton crumbled to 119 all out in reply as former Spen Victoria player Tosh Baker took 4-36.

Northowram Fields are second, eight points behind Buttershaw, after a 68-run win over Wakefield St Michael’s.
