Gale to lead Tykes out at T20 finals day

CLECKHEATON’S Andrew Gale will captain Yorkshire on one of the biggest days in the county cricket calendar tomorrow as they compete in the Friends Life Twenty20 finals day at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff.

Yorkshire are in finals day for the first time and they face Sussex Sharks in the first semi-final, which starts at 11am.

Yorkshire will be able to call on the services of England’s latest star Jonny Bairstow, while they will also have T20 specialist, South African David Miller available.

The Tykes have also included two other Dewsbury-born lads in their 16-man squad.

Former Hartshead Moor bowler Iain Wardlaw travels to Cardiff fresh from his 7-38 haul for Cleckheaton against East Bierley in last Saturday’s Bradford League Division One derby, while Ossett all-rounder Richard Pyrah is also selected.

If Gale can guide Yorkshire to victory over Sussex, they will play Hampshire or Somerset in the final later tomorrow evening.
