Friends Eleven secure six-a-side trophy win

Friends Eleven won the Dewsbury District League Six-A-Side competition on Monday, defeating Scout Hill A by one wicket off the last ball of the final.

Scout Hill made 34-5 with Tahir Raza (13) top scoring, while Ijaz Matloob (2-3), Ghulam Hussain (2-6) and Mohammed Saleem(1-8) claimed the wickets.

Mohammed Iqbal (2-1) and Khurram Shezad (2-9) claimed wickets in reply but man of the match Wasim Truckwala hit 16 not out to see Friends Eleven to victory.

Khurram Shezad (Scout Hill A) and Taimoor Aziz (Friends Eleven) shared the prize for most sixes hit in the competition, with Aziz also claiming man of the tournament.

Monday’s six-a-side triumph made up for Friends leven’s Dewsbury District Section A Cup defeat to Kismat on Sunday.

Kismat posted 153 all out before dismissing Friends for 129.

Savile Town booked their place in the cup semi-finals with a 71-run victory over Dewsbury United.

Zahid Shah and Waheed Ahmed led the way with impressive all-round displays.

The pair joint top scored with 34 and with support from Zubair Badat (28) and Ilyas Hashmi (27) it helped Savile Town reach 172-8.

Khalil Khan was pick of the United bowlers, climing 5-26.

Irfan Rasheed and Gulrez Khan hit 19 apiece in reply but United were bowled out for 101 as Shah claimed 5-8 and Ahmed 2-23.

Al Murad posted 161-9 in their tie against PKWA, who were dismissed for 99, while New Sanam make up the semi-finalists after making 189-9 and restricting Gujarkhan Starto 143-9.

Dewsbury Elite secured a six-wicket win over Azad in the Section B Cup group stages.

Younis Hussain claimed 4-14 as Azad were bowled out for 66 before Sajad Hussain guided Elite home with 23 not out.

Driftwood were dismissed for 81 by Shaheen with Zaib (4-21) and Adil Minhas (3-27) doing the damage before Shaheen eased to a six wicket win.

KK secured a 98-run victory over Kashmir.

Mubashar Mumtaz led the KK innings with 57 and he found useful support from Imran Khan (48) as they posted 181 all out.

Nazabed Hussain (4-28) and Arshad Jan (3-34) bowled impressive spells but it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat as Kashmir were then dismissed for 83 in reply.

Naeem Ahmed led the way for KK as he picked up 3-24, while support came from Usman (2-5) and Raja Nasar (2-10) Dewsbury District League Section A Cup Semi Finals
