Friends Eleven overcome Scout Hill to win delayed Dewsbury District League T20 final

The competition finals day had been postponed on August 31 due to heavy rain and took place after the final week of league matches.

Friends dismissed Azad for 105 in their semi-final before Taimoor Aziz steered them to a convincing nine wicket win when he finished unbeaten on 66.

Scout Hill were given a bye into the final when New Sanam arrived over 30 minutes late for their semi.

Scout Hill posted 139-8 in the final as Altaf Hussain (34) and Fahad Imam (27) led the way in the face of impressive bowling from Arshad Ali (2-19) and Ijaz Mahmood (2-20).

Shiraz Ali threatened to lead a Scout Hill fightback as he claimed 3-28 and Friends lost five wickets before Salamat Hussain and Naseer Ahmed (27no) steered them to victory with an unbroken sixth wicket stand.

Salamat proved the match winner as he finished 80 not out.

Dewsbury Elite won the Section B Twenty20 Cup final, defeating Kashmir by eight wickets in the final.

Sharafat Hussain (18) and Munazib Hussain (17) were the only Kashmir players to have any kind of impact as they were bowled out for 100 in the face of impressive bowling from Razeb Raja (3-12), Interzar Mahmood 3-22) and Younis Hussain (2-15).

Sajad Hussain struck 50 not out in reply and was supported by Bilal Ahmed (26no) as Elite eased to 101-8.

Elite’s success in the Twenty20 Cup came on the back of a creditable third place finish in Dewsbury District League Section B as they ended behind champions Dewsbury United and runners-up Al Murad.

Savile Town were Section A champions, ahead of Dewsbury Young Stars, who have indicated their intention to resign from the league.
