At 3-0 up on aggregate progress appeared smooth. However, things turned on a hand injury to Town goalkeeper Ian Bennett.

His replacement Alex Smithies’ first act was to pick the ball out of the back of the net after Daniel Powell’s strike from 18 yards.

The nerves were tingling as the visitors peppered the Town defence but somehow all efforts were repelled.

In the second minute of four minutes injury time Dons substitute Alan Smith stopped to head home a second Dons goal.

Could there be another twist to the tale?
