Terrier on the Terraces: Majewski absence is baffling

It was the old story of defensive mistakes and not taking chances at the other end costing points.

The continued omission of Radoslaw Majewski from the match day squad in the light of the recent run is something of a mystery.

The Polish international arrived with much fanfare on loan from Nottingham Forest, but after almost half the season he’s barely featured.

Fans caught a glimpse of a player who can create chances and play the killer pass but he hasn’t even been on the bench since his return from leave for personal reasons. Nor has he featured for the development squad, who have helped to nurse Joe Lolley back to fitness after his latest lay-off with injury.

It may be that he is injured, but the silence from the club amidst his continuing absence is curious.

Also absent is Adam Hammill, who is also known to have been absent from the club but is now supposedly back training.

The winger led the assist charts at the club last season and enjoyed an impressive campaign, but he now seems to be out in the cold.

If, as is rumoured, his attitude is a problem it would be better to have loaned him out with a view to a permanent transfer than have him picking up a wage when unlikely to play.

Town don’t have a big senior squad, which is one reason why the impending loss of Grant Holt back to Wigan worries more than a handful of Town fans.

In what looks like another long, difficult struggle at the bottom of the table, the squad needs utilising to the full, which makes the continued absences of creative senior players puzzling.

With injuries to Bunn and Scannell, it may be that the weekend’s clash with Brentford sees those who had been missing out return to the first team.
