Birstall Cricket Club won 4-1 at Myrtle Park thanks to a Darren Fothergill hat-trick plus a Jonny Beverley strike and they will entertain either top Leeds Sunday side HT Sports or Ryburn United in the third round.

There were also wins for two Huddersfield based Heavy Woollen sides as Slip Inn Hounds sealed a 7-0 victory against Eccleshill Athletic and Linthwaite won 11-1 at George United.

The Yorkshireman crashed out, losing 9-3 against Steel Bangle Spartans, Clifton Rangers lost 5-3 at Halifax Hammers, while AFC Chickenley went down 5-3 at Colton.

There was a cracking all Heavy Woollen tie in the West Riding County Sunday Trophy second round as Westgate23 edged out Old Bank WMNC 4-3.

Steven Swift, Josh Parker, Jack Clough and Jake Blackburn all netted for Westgate 23 and it was enough to see them through despite Old Bank WMC replying through a Robert Evans brace and Sam Womersley.

Division Two leaders Westgate23 now face Old Ball in the third round on December 4 and they are joined by fellow Heavy Woollen Sunday sides Scholes Athletic and Saville Arms.

Division One leaders Scholes Athletic won 5-3 against Halifax Rangers to set up a home tie with Kirk Deighton Rangers.

Saville Arms won 4-2 at home to Salts Reserves and have been drawn at home to Swillington Welfare, while Clifton Rangers A won 7-3 at Sandal Galaxy.

Roberttown Rovers crashed out on penalties after drawing 2-2 at Old Ball, while Ravenswharfe lost 5-1 against Corpus Christi and Deighton WMC went down 4-2 against Salts’ first team.
