LIVERSEDGE returned to winning ways in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division against Arnold last Saturday.

Sedge made a fine start when Chris Hirst fed Gibril Bojang but he was denied by the outstretched leg of goalkeeper Martin Denberry.

Bojang then sent Hirst free and he lifted the ball over Denberry to put the home side ahead.

Bojang shot across the face of goal before Liversedge deservedly doubled their lead as new left winger Adam Jarrett got to the by-line and crossed for Danny Toronczak to head home.

Three minutes later, Bojang pulled the ball back for Toronczak to rifle in and make it 3-0.

Arnold pulled one back when Ricky Law produced a quality cross to the far post which Ricky Gardner converted and Sedge had a scare when Arnold had three shots on goal but each time a defender cleared off the line.

James Rothell fired into the side netting following more good work by Hirst, before Arnold had a goal disallowed for offside.

Liversedge’s best chance of the second half came when Jarrett made a good run, slipped but regained his feet and let fly with a cracking shot which went just over the crossbar but the Clayborners had done enough to earn the three points.

Liversedge: Blythe, Hewitt, Rothell, Cooper, Leach, Riordan, Hirst, Wood, Toronczak (Thompson 88), Bojang (Williams 63), Jarrett. Sub (not used): Sharp.

n Liversedge bowed out of the NCE League Cup in the second round on Tuesday, going down 2-0 at home to Scarborough Athletic.
