Sedge do the Easter hop

LIVERSEDGE FC are taking part in the Northern Counties East League Groundhop scheme which promises a cracking Easter weekend packed with football.

The league have arranged fixtures from Thursday April 5 through to Saturday April 7 with the aim that supporters of all clubs, and football in general, hop between the grounds.

The league has also put together a package for supporters, which includes transport between the various venues, mostly in West and South Yorkshire, plus a special hotel deal.

Liversedge will host the tea-time match on Good Friday (April 6) when they welcome Arnold Town to Clayborn. The fixture has been moved back 24 hours and the kick-off time on Friday will be 4.45pm.

It should be a great opportunity to showcase the football and the facilities at Clayborn to a set of brand new supporters.

The ground hop programme begins on Thursday April 5 with Yorkshire Amateurs taking on Hemsworth Miners Welfare in a Division One clash, kick-off 7.45pm.

On Friday April 6, the action kicks off at 10.45am with Eccleshill United v Dinnington Town, also in Division One. Then it’s on to Premier Division action as Thackley take on Long Eaton United with a 1.45pm start.

At 4.45pm attention switches to Clayborn while the footballing action concludes with Brighouse Town at home to Barton Town Old Boys at 7.45pm.

It’s an early start on Saturday April 7 as at 10.30am Maltby Main take on Parkgate in the Premier Division.

The lunchtime kick-off is at 1.30pm when Premier Division high flyers Staveley Miners Welfare entertain Pickering Town.

At 4.45pm it’s back to Division One as Hallam host Teversal while the final leg takes Groundhoppers to Division One Worsbrough Bridge Athletic who take on Rossington Main at 7.45pm.

The Groundhop idea has already gained supporters with one fan blogging: “I love this idea and it’s something that I wish every league would adopt.

“It has potential to be a cracking weekend of football that will live in the memory for a very long time for spectators and will surely bring in some much needed funds for all clubs involved.”
