It should relieve the pressure on Town in the final two matches, at Walsall on Saturday and at home to Yeovil, in the final home league match on Saturday May 5 but after hopes being so high earlier in the season for automatic promotion it all seems like a damp squib scrabbling about for fourth or fifth place.

It was no picnic on Saturday as Lee Novak, capped a hard-working performance with an 89th minute goal after Scunthorpe had done a fine closing-down job on leading scorer Jordan Rhodes, The visitors also had their chances striking the crossbar,

Rhodes best effort came as Scott Arfield slipped ball into the Scotland international but he lifted his effort off target.

Town need a couple of confidence-boosting wins in their final two league games, for the fans as much as the team to have the momentum going into the play-offs when it appears that they will be playing MK Dons.
