Old Batelians beat Dewsbury Rangers in penalty shoot out

Old Batelians booked their place in the Yorkshire Amateur League Hodgson Cup semi-final thanks to a penalty shoot out victory over Dewsbury Rangers Reserves.

Tyler Spencer’s pass set up a goal for James Byrne and he went on to add a second after latching onto a long kick from goalkeeper Jonathan Storey.

In the closing stages, Jak Murphy headed home a corner and with no further goals in extra time, the tie was decided on penalties.

Storey, Razeb Raja and Byrne all scored their penalties as Batelians edged through 3-2 after the shoot out.

It was not a good day for Rangers as their first team suffered a 9-0 defeat at home to Ealandians Reserves in Division One.

West End Park’s poor run continued as they suffered a 5-0 defeat to Thornesians Reserves, who had a Paul Hayes hat-trick plus two own goals to thank for their victory.
