Marsh’s 12-goal cup spree – Adam hits six in Savile win

MARSH enjoyed a scoring spree in their Spen Valley Cup second round tie against Bradford All Stars.

The Cleckheaton side earned a 12-2 home win as Andrew Milner, David Webster, Mark Wrigley and Michael Padgett scored two goals each.

Chris Blackburn, James Parkin and Scott Newby were also on target while the All Stars replied through Mohammed Shuaib and Misbah Choudhury.

In the all Premier Division tie, Ravensthorpe Rangers just beat Bradford 2-1. The teams were drawing 1-1 until the final minute when Fessy conjured up a winner for the visitors. Zahid scored the other for Rangers while Gurpal Bhambra replied.

Premier Division Jardy Boys were too strong for Division One leaders Vision as Dan Stevens, Johnny Beverley, Lee Speight and Ben McCann struck in a 4-0 win, which saw a brace of goals in each half.

Howden Clough of Division One scored first through Corey Starkey in their tie at Premier side BD3 before the hosts roared back to win 8-1. Ihtisham Yasin scored a hat-trick, Sajad Ali hit two, while Abdul Qayum, Danyal Zahisd and Aman Yasin also struck.

In an all Division One clash Oakwell beat Inter Batley 3-1 thanks to goals by Ashley Barnes (two) and Luke Newsome. Fateh Laher scored for Inter.

Mount Athletic lost 2-1 to West Bradford Spartans who had Sam Prest and Bobby Canning on target.

In an all Premier tie TVR United beat Quarry 3-2 in a tight contest that was level at 1-1 at half-time. MoM Jason Hinchcliffe and Danny Goodlad scored a goal each for Quarry. Asif Iqbal, Junid Taj and Asis scored for TVR to put them through.

It took extra-time and penalties to separate Girlington and Fairbank. After 90 minutes it was 1-1 with Usman Amir scoring for Fairbank and Mohammed Ozaire levelling things for Girlington. After a goalless extra-time Girlington won 6-5 in the shootout.

In Spen Valley League Division One Savile United gained their sixth win of the campaign as they beat Ravenswharfe Hotel 8-2.

Faisal Adam was in fine form with six goals with Zubair Patel and Shahid Patel also on target. Jamie and Josh Crossland scored for Ravenswharfe.

Thornhill United Seniors B lost 4-2 at BD3 Reserves who had strikes from Sheraz Mahmood (hat-trick) and Faisal Hussain.
