Around half the Sedge team were delayed en-route to Scunthorpe and didn’t arrive at the ground until around 25 minutes before kick off.

Despite the pre-match disruption, Liversedge dominated the early stages and took a 15th minute lead with Brandon Kane’s spectacular left foot volley from the edge of the area.

Leading scorer Joe Walton should have doubled the lead when he rounded the goalkeeper but his shot hit a post with the goal gaping.

Bottesford equalised against the run of play when Thomas Spall’s tame shot hit a bobble and squirmed under Sedge goalkeeper Sam Andrews.

The home side had the better of the final 10 minutes of the first half but Liversedge’s defence thwarted Town’s efforts and it remained 1-1.

There was drama at the start of the second half when a floodlight failure caused the match to be held up for around 15 minutes.

On the resumption, Kane looked to have put Liversedge back in front with another left foot strike but the effort was ruled out for offside.

Bottesford immediately counter attacked and the ball was fed to Daniel Boulton, who turned in the area and slotted home.

Sedge drew level with a 65th minute goals as the impressive Walton sent Kane one-on-one with the goalkeeper to slot home his second goal of the evening.

Substitute Kyle Fish was introduced on his 19th birthday and celebrated in style when he made a terrific run into the area and pulled the ball back perfectly for Walton to fire home his 26th goal of the season to give Liversedge an 80th minute lead.

However, Liversedge were denied all three points when Bottesford substitute Wayne Graves fired home an 89th minute equaliser with a 20-yard shot.

The future looks bright for Sedge, who ended the game with 18-year-old Alfie Raw at right back, a trio of 19-year-olds in Jack McCarthy, Cody Cromack and Marc Lumb, in midfield and another 19-year-old, Mark Everingham, up front.

Liversedge have eight league games remaining, with seven of those at Clayborn, starting on Saturday when Premier Division strugglers Parkgate are the visitors.
