Draws for Jim Brown and John Kane Cups

THE Heavy Woolllen Amateur RL have changed the format of their Jim Brown and John Kane Cup competitions.

Previously the John Kane Cup was competed for by teams who had lost in the first round of the Jim Brown. Now the eight teams are seeded into two sets of four with the higher-rated clubs in the Jim Brown and the other four in the John Kane.

The first round pairings for the Jim Brown are Ossett Trinity v Birstall Victoria and Batley Boys v Dewsbury Moor.

The John Kane draw is Shaw Cross v Thornhill Trojans and White Rose v Dewsbury Celtic.

The date of the matches is Saturday, October 9 but three of the ties will have to be postponed because they clash with the second round of the Yorkshire Cup and four teams are involved.

Dewsbury Moor are drawn at Upton on that date, Batley Boys visit Skirlaugh Bulls, Ossett entertain Lindley Swifts and Thornhill are at Manston.

There is another change in that it is hoped to stage the finals of both competitions over the Christmas holiday period rather than on a midweek evening in May.
