Crackenedge's double hopes are ended by Callaghan Cup defeat to Real Moor

Crackenedge saw their hopes of a Wakefield League double ended as they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Real Moor in the Jim Callaghan Cup fourth round last Saturday.

Steve Hadden and Scott Lightowler netted for title chasing Crackenedge but it was second placed Real Moor who progressed to the quarter-finals with a brace from Robert Dickinson plus another goal by Ashley Thompson.

Crackenedge have won all six Premier Division games and are fourth in the table, six points behind Real Moor with six games in hand and a further point off leaders Rock Inn having played five games fewer.

They have eight league matches remaining, starting with Saturday’s trip to Crofton Sports.

Fox and Hounds earned a 2-1 win at home to Ossett Dynamoes to keep alive their slim promotion hopes in Division One.

Fox and Hounds remain fourth, four points behind second placed Durkar having played a game more.

Blake Maude and Thomas Ramsden struck for The Fox and it was enough to secure victory, despite Ben Butler replying for Ossett.

AFC Heckmondwike suffered a 2-1 defeat to Nostell Miners Welfare in the Division Two League Cup final at Crofton Sports last Friday.

Reece Scholes struck for Heckmondwike but Dillon Connelly bagged a brace as Nostell triumphed.

Heckmondwike had the chance to move above Waterloo to the top of Division Two last night (Wednesday) when they travelled to Overthorpe Sports for one of their games in hand.

Overthorpe earned a 5-3 win over bottom side Howden Clough last Saturday with Lewis Bryant and Daniel Marshall bagging a brace apiece.

Greg Wood (two) and Shane Thornton replied for Clough but they suffered a 19th defeat of the season.

A Samuel Haigh brace and one from Jack Haigh secured Thornhill United a 3-1 win at Middleton Old Boys, while Dewsbury West Side earned a 5-2 win at New Carlton.
