Bordman’s wonder strike caps an amazing day

Dewsbury semi professional footballer Rob Bordman produced a wonder strike from around 45 yards out to help Ossett Town defeat Bradford City 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday.

It capped a truly amazing day for the St John Fisher Sunday League player as the goal came just hours after the birth of his baby daughter Matilda (Tilly).

Bordman had two spells with Liversedge and the Northern Counties East League Premier side are also in pre-season action next week.

Saturday’s scheduled friendly against Westella Villa has been postponed but Sedge welcome Beeston St Anthony’s to Clayborn next Tuesday and have a hastily arranged friendly against Yorkshire Amateurs on Thursday, both games kick off at 7.30pm.

Liversedge are at home to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic on Saturday August 2 (2pm) and end their pre-season programme with the visit of Harrogate Railway on Tuesday August 5 (7.30pm).

Liversedge begin their NCE Premier Division programme at home to Cleethorpes Town on Saturday August 9 (3pm) before travelling to Worksop Town on Wednesday August 15 (7.45pm).

With the start of the new season just three weeks away, Liversedge are still looking to appoint a new chairman.

The club have met with a couple of potential candidates but are yet to decide which route to take.

Steve Newton stepped down as chairman in May but will remain involved with the club.
