Fisher looked to have blown their chances of winning the title after they were beaten 3-1 at Towngate last Sunday.

Goals from Iwan Henley-Heeley, Leon Henry and Killian Cropper dented Fisher’s hopes despite a Rob Bordman consolation strike.

Fisher were two points clear having completed their programme and faced an anxious wait on Tuesday when Thornhill Lees travelled to Towngate knowing victory would hand them the title.

Towngate again proved the party poopers as they won 4-2 to hand the crown to Fisher.

Levi Maturine (two), Danny Facey and Hanley-Heeley were the Towngate scorers and although Lees replied through Elliot Williams and James Wilson, it wasn’t enough to prevent defeat.

Sheard Athletic clinched the Division Two title on Tuesday when they defeated second placed Heckmondwike SC with goals from Bobby Campbell, Tom Heaton and Kieran Bonner.

Nathan Willoughby replied for Heckmondwike, who finish as runners-up.

Dewsbury Rangers won the Championship and are promoted alongside Overthorpe Sports, with Scholes and Carriers Arms relegated.

St John Fisher Reserves must beat Barr Street by 22 goals in their final game on May 26 to win Division One.

Nortonthorpe look to have been handed the title after second placed Fisher suffered a 3-2 defeat to Barr Street last Sunday.
