Duo take five wickets each as wins keep Mount sides in top spots

MOUNT’S two teams remain top of their respective divisions in the Huddersfield Central League.

Mount A were struggling in their Section B clash against Bradley & Colne at 40-4 before vice- captain Imran Patel (52) and in-form Hassan Ji Patel (72), together with the tail end, managed to boost their total to 252-9.

Bradley never came to terms with Mount’s pace attack as they were skittled out for 85. Fakir Laher took 4-30 to seal a victory which keeps them seven points clear of Crigglestone at the top of Section B.

Mount B thrashed Leymoor and with second- placed Horbury Bridge losing, they extended their lead at the top of Section E to 10 points.

Mount posted 216-7 with Ashraf Motala hitting 52 and vice captain Imran Patel 58 not out as they shared an 85-run stand in 13 overs towards the end of the innings.

Leymoor were skittled out for just 40 in reply as Rohit Khuller and Salim Hafeji took five wickets each.

Mount Under-9s reached the final of the Ansar Under-12s tournament last week, only to lose off the final ball of the game.

Mount’s first team entertain Horbury Bridge in the league on Saturday, while the B team will be boosted by the return of former favourite M Ali Aswat to their ranks , as they face a top-of-the-table clash at Horbury Bridge.

Mount Under-9s train on Sunday morning before the senior side face a team from Walsall to celebrate the new opening of the tea room. The match will start at 1.30pm.
