Danny’s title joy

FORMER Howden Clough junior Danny Broadbent was part of the Hyde FC side who won the Blue Square North League.

The 22-year-old striker began his career at Clough and went on to make six appearances as a professional for Huddersfield Town.

In 2008, Broadbent was named League One apprentice of the year at the prestigious Football League awards.

He went on to have loan spells at Rushden & Diamonds, Gateshead and Harrogate Town before moving to Hyde at the start of this season.

Broadbent, who has also played cricket for Liversedge, made 27 appearances in Hyde’s title winning campaign as they clinched promotion to the Blue Square Premier Division.

Hyde beat runners-up Guiseley and third-placed FC Halifax to the title and next season will come up against the likes of Lincoln City and Stockport County plus Macclesfield, who were relegated from the Football League last Saturday.
