Crowther shines in United defeats

HECKMONDWIKE and Carlinghow United and Mirfield stay in the promotion hunt in Huddersfield Central Section A despite defeats last weekend.

Opener Matthew Crowther hit a fine 66 but he fell to Woolley A’s impressive Liam Margison (5-26) as United were dismissed for 141 in 41 overs.

Gregg Crowcroft (46no) then led the home side to 143-6 in 35 overs, despite Shoiab Rehman (3-37) and Adam Holt (2-12) taking wickets.

Heckmondwike and Carlinghow are fifth, just behind Mirfield (171-6) who lost by seven wickets to Woodfield (172-3).

Crossbank B lost by two wickets to Holmbridge B in Section C.

Shahid Tanvir top scored with 53 as they were 132 all out.

Despite 4-45 by Michael Parkin, visitors Holmbridge reached 133-8.

Heckmondwike and Carlinghow B rose to sixth after a 112-run win over Almondburians B.

Morton Robinson (62), Martin Crossley (38) and Steven Trevitt (37) led the way as United reached 209-6. Andrew Pickett (7-22) then stared with the ball as the visitors were 97 all out.
