Crossley leads way in player of year awards

The Royal Suite at Tetley’s Stadium was packed as supporters gathered to see who collected the awards.

The Supporters Club awards, handed out by Elsie Fryer, were voted for by Rams fans.

Crossley was voted Supporters Club play-of-the-year and collected the magnificent Brearley Bailey Trophy. Top try scorer James Craven was second and Patch Walker third.

The Clubman of the year is awarded to somebody who has gone above and beyond the call of duty on behalf of the Rams.

The last time a player scooped the award was in 2000 and this year’s prize was awarded jointly to Dewsbury’s two longest serving players.

Patch Walker has been at the club for six years and was awarded the George Rigg Trophy along with the ever popular Austin Buchanan, who has been with the Rams for five seasons.

In the club awards, Josh Tonks won man of steel and players player of the year again went to Crossley.

The club’s player of the year went to full-back Craven, who is a Dewsbury lad and has worked his way up from the Under-21s to become one of the Rams best players.
